There has been alot of publicity about this bill. It is many bills we have to fear all wrapped up in one. I have received a few notes about it asking about it and I appreciate those. The reason that I have not devoted much time to it is that the House has not. As of right now it is in the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security within the House Committee on the Judiciary. It has no cosponsors. This bill says alot about Representative Bobby Rush. But until there is action, it says nothing about anyone else. Stay vigilant. Write Comment (0 Comments) |

There is some conjecture on Obama changing the just enacted rules on concealed carry in national parks. As of right now, January 21 at 08:20 MT, Rocky Mountain National Park has not heard anything from the Obama administration or NPS headquarters. So, concealed carry is still legal in the National Park system. Of course, I would call ahead to any park you wish to visit on the day you wish to visit. The situation could change at any time and do not expect officials to have any understanding if you get caught in the middle. I had not considered the question before, but I have been told that open carry is still considered verboten independent of state and local law. Write Comment (0 Comments) |

David Codrea, over at War on Guns, has a series going on Obama and our anticipated future challenges. Excuse me if my entries have been sparse for quite awhile. I am in the process of reinventing myself in the tech world so that I can actually become employed again. And I am trying to relax a bit after a very stressful last 18 months. For your enjoyment:

Mayors Against Illegal Guns |

Yet another member of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns has been arrested (hat tip to Boots and Sabers). Add Gary Becker to the list of other members that have been arrested. For all their pontificating on the dangers of gun owners and ccw holders, I just have to wonder what percentage of the mayors have been arrested and compare that to the percentage of ccw holders that get arrested. I would put money on the idea that mayors are more a threat to a safe, legal society than ccw holders or gun owners. Has anyone kept a consolidated list of arrested members? I have started scanning THOMAS for new firearms bills. It provides an easy search mechanism that you can plug in various key words. Sometimes the keywords produce surprising results. Case in point today: House Joint Resolution 5. Representative Jose Serrano, of the great Democratic state of New York, has proposed a Constitutional amendment to repeal the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution thereby removing the restriction of two terms any individual can serve as President. This crap is introduced on the first day of the new Congress and two weeks before Obama's inauguration. Unbelievable. Write Comment (0 Comments) |

Obama campaigned on a promise of change. His nomination of Eric Holder for Attorney General accents the new administration's hostility toward the Second Amendment. The Firearms Coalition is doing the heavy lifting in the fight against Holder's confirmation. Check out Block Holder - Act Today! Write Comment (0 Comments) |
