SynopsisThis bill removed the expediting by the Attorney General the upgrading of the federal background systems and the interfaces to the state background systems.
AnalysisRemoval of the expediting clause could have had the potential impact of delaying the effectiveness of the NICS operations. Antigun senators may then have been looking for an excuse to extend the waiting period that was to sunset after five years.
