SynopsisSA3235 sought to require retailers to have for sale "Secure Gun Storage Device", which the amendment defined, and required retailers to appropriately store their firearms. AnalysisTwo basic laws of retail survival are 1) you don't want your merchandise stolen and 2) you should stock what people want to buy. SA3235 would have codified basic common sense in federal law. On the other hand, it did provide political cover to those that wanted to vote against SA3230 which required a lock be sold with each handgun. See SA3238.
