SynopsisA bill to prohibit civil liability actions from being brought or continued against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, or importers of firearms or ammunition for damages resulting from the misuse of their products by others.
AnalysisThis bill would have prevented third party liability from being used to bankrupt legitimate business by over-zealous gun gabbers and trial lawyers. President Bush had asked that this bill be sent to him unamended. Nine amendments were attached to the bill in the hours preceding this vote. It was voted down by virtually every senator. Some were against the bill and some could not accept the amendments that were attached to it in the preceding hours. This was an appropriate end to what the bill had become.
