SynopsisFrom the Congressional Record: Amends the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act to increase the penalty from one year to five years imprisonment (thus reinstating criminal felony penalties) for knowingly making false statements, representations, or entries in firearms records or for otherwise failing to maintain such records.
AnalysisThe BATFE has the ability to convert the simplest 'mistake', like allowing a citizen to type 'VA' instead of 'Virginia', into a license threatening event. Converting paperwork failures into felonies is an appauling miscarraige of power.
