SynopsisThe bill has two main sections. The first prevents restrictions on firearms in the National Park System or the National Wildlife Refuge System. The second encourages hunting on federals lands unless hunting is incompatible with the stated purpose of the land.
AnalysisFirst, there is no question that our Second Amendment rights do not end at the border of a national park. With crimes being perpetrated against citizens without respect to park boundaries, it only makes sense to allow law abiding citizens the same capabilities within a park as without.
Second, hunting on federal property makes sense from an animal management perspective, as well as a citizenry perspective. Why should people of this country be prohibited from hunting on federal property, as long as it is not incompatible with the property's use?
