h/t to Instapundit. Self defense as an international human right (PDF) according to by Dave Kopel, Paul Gallant, and Joanne Eisen. I would take it a step further. Every right defined by the Bill of Rights is a right of every human on earth. Rights delineated by the Constitution existed before it was written or America was a country. These rights are not dependent upon the USA's existence.
The fact that other countries do not recognize them does not negate their existence. But, just because we recognize the rights of others outside of our country does not mean we should step in anywhere to get their rights acknowledged. Now, the fun part. What rights do people have in time of war, declared or not? I consider war an act of criminality or response to criminality at the state level. The state may not have lands, but as long as it has followers that take its lead ahead of their state of residence, it is still a state. By this definition, Al Qaeda is a state.
