I present for your consideration Sportsmen for Obama? The next presidential election will be especially important in case the Democrats retain control of the House and Senate.

Fellow Posters,

I have had Guns in my life for as long as I can remember, Dad kept them in his Gun cabinet (the key was on top), the thought of going into the cabinet never, never entered my  mind, annual deer hunting trips and some target shooting once in a while.  This was something that I carried into my adult life

Like so many other out here, here is one more story of how they have striped off another one of our rights given to us by our forefathers.

My story put simply, and I’m not saying I was fully in the right, but let the punishment fit the crime!

My son had been misbehaving, (doing what he wanted, when he wanted, taking what he wanted, including breaking into my Gun Cabinet after breaking into my bedroom that also had a lockable door… ect) for several months.  Finally I had had enough! So I spanked him (Used a belt)

I now know that spanking wasn’t the problem but the belt was!  He reported me to the school system who in-turn called the Local PD.  They called me in to get “my side of the story”.  Well I found out real quick that I was already convicted in there eyes!  And it really didn’t matter what I said!  Charged with Felony Child Abuse, 10 years and $10,000, well that I was willing to fight, thought I had made it clear to my Attorney that I was unwilling to give up my rights to have fire arms this was in 1999.  Charge was reduced to misdemeanor, (1 month Jail, 2 yrs Probation) I was not aware of the Lautenberg Amendment until well after the court date.  I totally feel that the attorney was out for there own and only wanted the quick and easy buck, Yes I had “representation” at the hearings, as far as the law is concerned. But did I really?  If I had known I would have pushed for the jury trial.  Did my month in Jail and 18 months probation, they cut that short due to good behavior.

My son today even says that he deserved the spanking, just didn’t like the way it was done, or was it the fact that Dad had a girlfriend he was looking at getting remarried.

Now up to this time I had been pulled over for speeding, seatbelts and lights being inoperable on my car (bulbs had a bad connection oh yea it was the lamp for the license plate). Since that time, my only involvement with the PD has been, one of the officer and I became friends, and my stepson is involved with the Police reserve. He had no clue as to what had happened until I recently told him the basics of the story. Most of the people I know don’t view me as a violent person at all, and I’m involved with the local church.

A few years back I approached the local DA about getting the charges dropped or what ever we could do so that I could legally go hunting again, the response was learn to use a bow and arrow! You know what most people I talk to DO NOT know of the Lautenberg Amendment or what it entails.  Lets make a little noise and let this be knows to all it’s the only way it will get changed back,  Until then only the criminals will have firearms and those of us that obey the law will be without them.  Oh should I say the state says I can get a hunting license they don’t care it’s the federal government that has the issue.
