H.R.4900, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Reform and Firearms Modernization Act, is getting attention from law makers. It is billed as a combination of the 109th House's House Bill 5005 - the Firearms Correction and Improvesments Act and House Bill 5092 - the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE) Modernization and Reform Act of 2006. Introduced on December 19, 2007, it now (March 11) has 53 cosponsors. That number is growing almost daily - 28 this month.
Each one is a step in the right direction. Update March 13, 2008 - H.R.4900 now has eighty-five cosponsors. Update March 26, 2008 - The number of cosponsors seems to have settled at ninety-nine, for now.
