- Alphecca lets us know that the Chicago government does not believe their retired cops are trustworthy enough to be certified for nationwide concealled carry under HR218.
- Here is something completely different: An American working as a British cop. Hat tip to John Lott for this pointer To First U.S. Bobby, Unarmed Is Unsafe.
- Ravnwood has a great comparison of stories on VA gun law. Check out Damned if you do, damned if you don't. The big part I must disagree with refers to the one gun a month scheme making any difference. Before that law passed, VA was not a 'gun capital of the east coast'.
- From the National Shooting Sports Foundation:
NEW ATF REGULATIONS GUIDE . . . The new Federal Firearms Regulations Reference Guide has been published by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and is posted to the ATF Web site. ATF has advised NSSF that no date has been set for distribution of the hard copy to Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs). It should also be noted that the guide's cover will be white, a change from the "green book", as it is commonly referred to. The guide is also available for download through the National Association of Firearms Retailers Web site. Write Comment (0 Comments) |

Los Angeles is worried about violence if Tookie gets a needle on Tuesday. We all probably remember the LA riots from a few years ago. Watching that truck driver get pulled out of his vehicle and beat to near death on tv speaks to how quickly the unexpected can happen. Depending on how things go down, this may be a good time for LA residents to consider being out of town. If you are not already armed, it may be too late. We do not suggest that you violate the law in any way, but we would suggest you avail yourself of every possible option. Write Comment (0 Comments) |

- In Denver the state is fighting the city over home rule in the state Supreme Court. Check out State fights city's stricter gun limits.
- New Jersey elected another gun grabber. This one replaces Jon Corzine in the Senate.
- We are looking for alot more Lautenberg victims. Check out the story below.
- In the off chance you haven't seen it already, Canada is talking about a complete handgun ban. Already there is the story of the guy who won't register. Interestingly the story states that Canada had 172 murders in 2004. The Canadian government should visit New York or DC to see what a total gun ban looks like.
- While we are on Canada, look at the highly enlightened Crooks cool to gun amnesty. I suspect that asking criminals to turn in their guns would be about as effective as asking Americans to turn in their cars or their credit cards.
- The Violence Policy Center thinks that the passenger shooting in Miami points to problems with guns on planes. I believe that the VPC doesn't think.

One in a Row reminds us of the responsibility of teaching new shooters. As he says, they are the future of shooting sports. They are also one segment of the future of gun rights. By educating people about firearms, fear is replaced with knowledge. That knowledge will help people make realistic assessments of the statements of the gun grabbers. Write Comment (0 Comments) |

SANFORD LEVINSON, a distin- guished constitutional law pro- fessor, wrote in the Yale Law Journal that the Second Amendment suffers from a lack of serious scholarship. Few law students envision the Second Amendment as an area of lucrative practice upon graduation. His article, "The Embarrassing Second Amendment," sent a shock wave through academia by suggesting that the amendment might actually mean what it says. Issues involving guns have taken center stage in the cultural divide that separates Red and Blue America. Gun-control advocates point to the militia clause of the Second Amendment, arguing that it warrants a collective, rather than an individual, right to keep and bear arms. However, history--buttressed by the Founders' clear understanding--dictates that the amendment guarantees this right to individual Americans.
