SynopsisH.R.4547 is very much like H.R.1243, but it is not identical. It acknowledges states that do not issue concealed carry permits and places restrictions on carry locations in those states to those commonly found in the laws of different states. S.3275 is the companion bill to H.R.4547.
AnalysisThis bill will allow residents of any state who carries a ccw from any state to carry in any state. H.R.4547 would probably be less objectionable to gun grabbers than H.R.1243 in that it acknowledges a default list of places you could not carry, unless specified by state law. The NRA has decided to make H.R.4547 a legislative priority.

afa Written by mcovey on 2006-08-25 09:09:46 "unless specified by state law." bad stuff. This would force a lot of states to consider that they allow carry in ... schools, churches, bars, etc. and decide if they are going to continue. | DC Carry Permit Gathering Written by docwatson on 2006-09-22 07:43:09
I am organizing a group of folks to go to the DC Gun Control to apply for a DC carry permit. Since the law is on the books, this is an act of *Civil Obediance*. This permit would allow anyone to own, possess, and carry concealed a handgun in DC. I have been told that we will be 'refused out of hand' and that the law on the books 'is an old law that doesn't mean much anymore'. The event is on 17 November 2006 and more information and a thread on the topic can be found at: http://opencarry.mywowbb.com/forum16/508.html Please feel free to contact me through the website or directly via docwatson223 at gmail dot com. |
