H.R.6691 is getting the attention of House representatives. Introduced July 31, it now has 130 cosponsors. August was relatively quite, but this month has seen a surge. The bill takes gun control law away from the D.C. city council. If passed, the only laws that would remain in D.C. would related to concealed and open carry. It allows District of Columbia residents to possess semiautomatic handguns and eliminates rules that guns kept at home must be locked up and unloaded.The House vote comes three months after the Supreme Court ruled that the District's three-decade-old ban on possessing handguns violated Second Amendment rights to bear arms.
