It appears that the petition pointed to by Triggerfinger may be old enough to be a waste of time. But the issue does bring up some questions:
- Is it time to try to remove the Hughes Amendment from FOPA 86?
- If not the whole Hughes Amendment, can we get a bill passed to disable a part of the Hughes Amendment so that pre-May 1986 full-auto weapons could, once again, be registered? This would allow LEO and military surplus firearms go into the civilian supply.
- Could we get a bill passed forcing all military rifles, shotguns and side arms to be disposed of by the CMP?
We can not wait until the M16 goes surplus to start the fight. If we do, it will be too late.
