SynopsisThis bill addressed some of the various taxes imposed by the federal government. The portion of the law we are interested in is Subtitle E - Sport Excise Taxes, Section 241 - Custom Gunsmiths.
The bill exempts 'small manufacturers', which it defines, from the federal excise tax on firearms.
AnalysisThis is a very small item, but a definite step in the right direction.
Just as there is no sales tax on newspapers (at least in Colorado), there should not be any excise or sales taxes on any firearm. The exercise of Constitutional rights should never be a taxable event.
