Update: It appears that Hunting, Fishing & Outdoors does produce their own original content, so my appologies to them. I am noticing that GLN posts and other's blogs are appearing in other spaces. Gun News which is grabbing my content, and other's, through RSS feeds. They try to credit the original site. But everything from GLN is credited to Mr. Completely. GN seems to have no advertising for sale. I can only guess that they want to try to build traffic without work to then try to sell the url. Is anyone else seeing this? Have a problem with this?

Written by Nimrod45 on 2007-02-20 12:31:57 As far as GN goes, he's ripped off *your* commentary and work, without really saying where he got it from. That constitutes copyright infringement in my book.
| Written by gunnerclark on 2007-02-20 13:00:22 Send a small letter to their ISP and inform them that you are less then happy to be stolen from. | Got it Written by admin on 2007-02-20 18:17:26 I think I have it. Gun News is used to boost the google page rank of www.fortliberty.org which is an ad bonanza.... Will - Start sending me checks or produce your own content. | Spam blogs grabbing your content Written by Syd on 2007-02-20 22:17:34 Yes, I have noticed it and it bothers me. They ping back to my blog because your links to my articles (which I appreciate) are in the content they have stolen from you. Were I you, it would would annoy me. They should do their own work, or at least have the courtesy to ask your permission to re-post your stuff. The blogs that are really spam pages are the worst offenders. I haven't completely figured out what GN's game is. What they are doing is at least unethical. Syd | Mr. Completely Responds.... Written by Mr. Completely on 2007-02-21 21:54:41 I think some points need to be cleared up before false assumptions are made. 1. I have no connection to Gun News. 2. His link in the article in question actually is a link to Gunlawnews, as it should be. Somehow he has the link mis-titled to Mr. Completely, rather than titled as Gun Law News. 3. Anyone clicking on the link is sent here to Gun Law News, rather than to Mr. Completely. It appears that gun news attempted to properly give credit and a link back, and did set up the proper link, but mis-titled it. Any material from another blog should be fully credited and linked back to the source. Courtesy also suggests that any mention of someone else's blog in a blog post should also include a link to the blog mentioned. ....... Mr. C.
| Correct Written by admin on 2007-02-21 23:27:57 Mr. Completely was somehow named on the link, but was not the destination of the link. I actually got an email from the owner of gunnews.org. He was confused as to why I objected to his use, but says he has terminated with his use of my RSS feed. He considers himself a 'news aggregator' but made no effort to refute the assertion that the purpose of gunnews.org was to play google with www.fortliberty.org. Ultimately, he suggested I terminate the RSS feed if I don't like 'news aggregators'. I guess he is unfamiliar with facilities like Bloglines. |
