Sorry for taking so long to get back to this, but here are the October Poll results. The question was 'Where should we go for next?'. And the results were:
- Nationwide CCW Reciprocity 43.5%
- Repeal of NFA 34 28.4%
- Repeal of 'sporting use' 11.5%
- Repeal of the Brady Bill 6.8%
- Repeal of the Hughes Amdt 4.3%
- Interstate sales of all firearms 4.0%
- Other 1.6%
- Interstate sales of rifles 0.1%
Keep & Bear Arms gave the poll a big push at the end resulting in 1036 votes for the month. subguns.com also made a big contribution trying to push the repeal of NFA '34 and they made a very credible showing. In the end, the Secure Access to Firearms Enhancement Act of 2005 or some variation thereof is what people are interested in. This bill is proposed as H.R.1243.
Three things need to happen from here. First, we need recognize the congressional schedule will preclude any work on this until next year. This will give us time to do the second item: get the NRA to recognize our desires and push from their side. And third, we need to all communicate with our officials to get this bill moving.
We all know that politics play a huge roll in DC. But we, as the general public, are not concerned over their internal issues. We want, and rightfully expect, results. Politicians are not elected and paid to play games. They are there to represent their Constitution and their constituents. That is what we expect and deserve.
