This time of year people are prone to evaluate their life. Time, being the most precious thing we all have, is the key consideration. My question is: Am I spending my time in such a way that I will not have regrets when my time is over? Think of time like a business. We must spend some on overhead - work, paying bills, cleaning house, etc. And some goes to profit (or not) like family, friends, hobbies, etc. Which brings us to this site. Why do we invest our time doing this? The answer is really very easy. Because freedom is worth the fight. Because there are those out there who think we are not worthy or trustworthy. Key in the INSTITUTE FOR SOCIAL POLICY AND UNDERSTANDING. If understanding is what they want, it is what we have. Target: Junaid M. Afeef and his article In the Fight Against Terrorism, Some Rights Must Be Repealed. If the terrorists wish to destroy what America is, Junaid is one of their inside men. His article starts rather blandly and goes to: This leads to a bigger policy issue. In the post 9/11 world where supposedly “everything has changed,” perhaps it is time for Americans to reconsider the value of public gun ownership. We could not agree more. But while our thoughts head toward increasing firearm ownership and carrying, Junaid's go another direction completely. He continues: The idea of public gun ownership simply does not make sense anymore.....blah, blah, blah.... So long as guns remain available to the general public, there will always be the threat of terrorists walking into a crowded restaurant, a busy coffee shop or a packed movie theater and opening fire upon unsuspecting civilians. The Second Amendment is not worth such risks. Actually, just looking at England will show anyone with half a brain that outlawing guns will not end the gun supply. The prospect of fighting in our streets makes me believe that we should take the Israeli tack and have large percentages of the population walking around with concealed weapons and a fair percentage of that with AR-15s on their shoulders. America needs a chance to defend itself on its own territory if that is where the fight is, not hoist the white flag before the fighting starts. People die. That is the nature of war. Outlawing all guns in the US would not prevent the terrorists from getting guns here. It would only prevent us from defending ourselves. More Americans would die in a disarmed America than in a free America. We can only try to keep the war from coming here. If we are unsuccessful, we must be allowed to make the terrorists die for their cause. I will fight for freedom. At the end of my time, I will know my time was well spent.

Institute for Social Policy and Understa Written by jperilloux on 2005-12-26 15:46:34 I don't know anything about the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding but after looking at the names of the board of directors of that organization I have to wonder if their aim is creating a safer America or creating an America that is safer for muslims. I suspect it is the latter. With organizations such as this one gaining more influence in the United States, now is definitely not the time for loyal Americans to be denied their Constitutional right to own and bare firearms. You have written an excellent editorial. |
