It was never the intention of this site to get involved with state or local politics beyond the Forum. But when something does not pass the smell test, you feel compelled to warn people that there is a stink headed their way. And so it is for Cook County, Illinois.
A reader alerted us to a proposal to amend the Cook County Firearms Dealer’s License and Assault Weapons Ban Ordinance. Curiously the proposal is sitting in the Committee on Health and Hospitals. This AWB was proposed because the federal ban has expired. But, understand that Cook County already has an Assault Weapons Ban. And this one goes much further than the federal ban ever went. In this proposal, a semiautomatic firearm is a SAW if it has but one of the five feared features.
Check out the text of the proposal. And check out the press release by the proud commissioner.
The proposal is supposed to come up next month, so the time to act is now.
Thanks for the heads up Bill. --The End--Only registered users can write comments. Please login or register. Powered by AkoComment 2.0! |
